Ponto de encontro de aficionados por tênis, arte, roupas e muito mais, a REED SPACE anunciou seu fechamento nessa semana. O fato é triste, mas o pronunciamento divulgado deixa claro que algo muito maior, e melhor, pode estar a caminho.

Criada por JEFF STAPLE, a loja conceito iniciou suas atividades em 2001, e foi palco de diversas ações envolvendo várias marcas, principalmente a STAPLE, tendo seu grande boom em 2005, após o conturbado lançamento do NIKE SB DUNK LOW ‘PIGEON’, que foi um divisor de águas para a cultura sneaker.

Em entrevista para a Revista SBR 10, JEFF não esconde que tem muitos planos futuros para sua marca e estúdio, com várias coisas a serem divulgadas ainda esse ano, algo que fica bem claro com a sequência de colaborações que temos visto por aqui, como a FILA e PUMA, fora os outros projetos paralelos, como os envolvendo a AIRWALK CLASSICS.

Esta é a declaração oficial a respeito do encerramento das atividades da REED SPACE, que nos cria uma grande expectativa a respeito dos próximos passos dessa equipe que, com certeza, ainda terá muita história pra contar.

Since December 2001, Reed Space has lived on this humble block in the Lower East Side. We opened Reed before the dust even finished settling from the 9/11 tragedy. Back then, the idea of a space like this was
completely new, different and unique.

In the 15 years since then, times have changed tremendously.
Our subculture has blossomed into an industry titan.
We were once the outcasts. Now we’re the poster children.
We literally “started from the bottom” & it has been an incredible journey!

But we now feel it’s time for a complete reset.
In 2001, we redefined what Retail meant.
What Curation meant. What a Community Space meant.
We now feel it is time to redefine once again.

It is with regret that we inform you that Reed Space will be closing its doors at this location on Sept 30th, 2016. We will be re-opening at a new location in the very near future.
